Macalester vs. St. John's box score
Macalester claimed victories in four of the six singles matches and won the decisive battle at No. 1 singles to beat St. John's 5-4 at Hayden Courts. The Scots, who are enjoying their best season in years, move up to 3-1 in the MIAC and 11-3 overall with their seventh win in a row, and have won two straight 5-4 decisions.
Mac's lone win in doubles competition came at No. 1 where
Michael Coleman (Jr., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) and
Paul Mairet (Jr., Rochester, Minn. / Century) took an 8-3 win.
The final match to be completed was Coleman's match-deciding 6-4, 6-7, 10-6 triumph at No. 1 as he goes to 10-2 on the spring campaign.
The Scots also received wins from
Chris Fowler (So., Toronto, Ont. / Royal St. Georges) at No. 2 (6-1, 6-3),
Evan Elderbrock (So., Madison, Wis. / West) at No. 4 (3-6, 6-0, 10-6) and
Justin Margolies (Jr., Madison, Wis. / West) at No. 6 (6-2, 6-4). Mac is now 58-26 in singles play this season.
This was Macalester's first match since March 27 as the Scots avenge four straight 7-2 losses to the Johnnies. The Scots return to action next weekend at home against St. Thomas.
