Macalester vs. Carleton box score
Macalester played one of its best matches of year to close out the spring season, but came up one point short in a 5-4 loss at Carleton, the MIAC's second-place team. The Scots wrap up a solid campaign with a 10-11 overall mark and 3-6 MIAC record.
Wins at first and second doubles and a narrow two-point setback at third doubles, gave the Scots hopes of pulling out the upset.
Charlie Edelman (Sr., Tucscon, Ariz. / University) and
Michael Coleman (So., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles, while
Chris Fowler (Fy., Toronto, Ont. / Royal St. George's) and
Ali Bandeali (Fy., Karachi, Pakistan / Karachi Grammar School) came out on top 8-6.
Edelman and Coleman went 9-12 at No. 1 doubles this year, including a respectable 4-5 in the MIAC.
Edelman, the last in a long line of Macalester standouts from Tucson, winds up his senior season with a 10-10 record at No. 1 singles and 9-12 mark at No. 2 doubles. He's never had a losing singles record and concludes his career with a 41-28 singles record and 36-37 doubles record.
Carleton pulled out three-set victory at No. 6 singles to swing the match its way. Macalester singles winners were Coleman at No. 2 and
Evan Elderbrock (Fy., Madison, Wis. / West) at No. 5.
