Macalester vs. Northwestern box score
Macalester brought its record to the .500 level when it toppled Northwestern 8-0 in Roseville. The Scots improve to 6-6 on the season, while the Eagles drop to 0-12. The match at No. 6 singles was not completed due to darkness, but everything else went to the Scots.
The three doubles matches were fairly closely played.
Michael Coleman (Fy., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) and
Paul Mairet (Fy., Rochester, Minn. / Century) won 8-3 at first doubles,
Titus Levy (So., New York, N.Y. / Fieldston School) and
Justin Margolies (Fy., Madison, Wis. / West) took a narrow 8-6 match at No. 2 doubles, and at No. 3, the Scots received an 8-4 win from
Reed Larson (Jr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) and
Stefan Aune (Fy., St. Paul, Minn. / Henry Sibley). The tandem of Mairet and Coleman are 4-1 on the spring season.
Brad Goldstein (Sr., Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) started the singles competition with a dominant 6-0, 6-0 win.
Aaron Heerboth (Sr., Tucson, Ariz. / Catalina Foothills) also rested during doubles competition and improved to a team-best 9-3 on the season with a quick 6-1, 6-2 decision.
Mairet won a very close 4-6, 7-5, 10-6 match at No. 3; and Coleman won by a pair of 6-0 sets at No. 5.
Matt Fisher (Fy., St. Louis Park, Minn.) was up 6-2, 2-0 when his match was called off.
Macalester returns to MIAC play Saturday (April 5) at St. Thomas at 1 p.m. The Scots bring a 2-2 conference mark into their match with the Tommies.
