Macalester vs. Bethel box score
Bethel moved closer to securing an MIAC playoff spot by dominating singles play en route to a 7-2 win over the Scots at Macalester tennis courts in the next-to-last match of the season. The Scots drop their sixth straight and fall to 6-11 on the year and 2-6 in the MIAC. The Royals are now 6-6 overall, 4-2 in the conference.
Mac's wins came at second and third doubles.
Michael Coleman (Fy., Westlake Village, Calif. / Agoura) and
Paul Mairet (Fy., Rochester, Minn. / Century) fought to a 9-7 triumph at No. 2 doubles, while at No. 3,
Titus Levy (So., New York, N.Y. / Fieldston School) and
Charlie Edelman (Jr., Tucson, Ariz. / University) captured an 8-5 decision. Levy came closest to pulling out a Macalester win in singles play before falling 5-7, 6-0, 5-10 at No. 6.
Levy and Edelman are 6-3 this spring as a doubles tandem, including 3-2 in the MIAC. Coleman and Mairet (5-4 overall) are also 3-2 in league competition.
The Scots close out their campaign Sunday (March 20) at Macalester Tennis Courts against Saint John's at 12 noon.
