| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College volleyball team was recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association with the Team Academic Award, the organization announced today. This is the 16th consecutive year that the Scots have earned the honor, which rewards teams for their academic achievement.

The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale.

Earlier this year, 10 Scots were honored by the MIAC with Academic All-Conference accolades: Sarah Bohrer (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina), Avery Rahe (Olathe, Kan./Olathe West), Grace Watkins (San Angelo, Texas/Georgetown) and Lily Johnson (Concord, Mass./Concord Carlisle), rising seniors Hannah Morrow (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook) and Sydney Stratton (North Liberty, Iowa/Liberty), and rising juniors Adonia Anene (North Hollywood, Calif./The Buckley School), Hannah Eisenman (Cary, N.C./Green Level), Elizabeth Joo (San Jose, Calif./Valley Christian) and Greta Seppanen (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park).

This year the AVCA honored 1,432 volleyball teams at the high school and collegiate levels with the Team Academic Award.
