Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) will compete in the 200 meters and 400 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, as the NCAA announced the national qualifiers Sunday. Rogahn-Press ran a school-record time of 54.60 in the 400 meters at the University of Nebraska's Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Feb. 7. At the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 27, Rogahn-Press captured her first MIAC title by winning the 400 with a time of 55.79. She also earned All-MIAC honors with a second-place finish in the 200 and a third-place finish in the 55-meer dash. For her outstanding performances at the conference meet, she was named the MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Year.
This past Saturday at the UW-La Crosse Final Qualifier, Rogahn-Press broke her own school record in the 200 with a time of 25.05, which is 19th among the athletes who have declared for the NCAA Division III Championships.
Last year, Rogahn-Press placed sixth in the 400 meters at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships and was named an All-American. She also earned All-American status with a fourth-place finish in the 400 at the outdoor national championships.
Rogahn-Press is scheduled to run the 400 meters at 3:05 p.m. and the 200 meters at 4:15 p.m. Central time on Friday, March 13. The top eight finishers in the prelims advance to Saturday's finals, with the 400 final taking place at 4:25 p.m. and the 200 final beginning at 5:15 p.m. The meet will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
