Women’s Track & Field: Six Scots Named All-North Region

| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. - Six members of the Macalester College women's track & field team earned a spot on the All-North Region Team, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced today. Senior Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School), junior Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep), sophomore Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt), and the distance medley relay team of Fox, first year Aubrey Jensen (Floresville, Texas), senior Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) and sophomore Kyra Morris (Pacific Palisades, Calif./Palisades Charter) were named All-Region, which requires athletes to be ranked in the top eight regionally in an individual event, or top three in a relay.

Rogahn-Press has the fastest time in the region and second-best mark in Division III in the 400 meters with a school-record time of 54.60. The time not only ranks second in Division III this season, but it is the sixth-fastest time ever run by a Division III athlete. Last weekend at Wartburg, she broke her own school record in the 200 meters with a time of 25.05, which is sixth in the region. Both times qualified Rogahn-Press for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships, which take place this weekend in Birmingham, Ala.

Myatt also broke a school record at Wartburg last Friday, scoring 3,429 points in the pentathlon to rank sixth in the region. She had four personal-best marks out of the five events, including clearing 1.59 meters (5-2.5) in the high jump to rank fifth all-time at Macalester in that event.

Fox ran a time of 4:59.50 at the Wartburg Final Qualifier on Saturday to break the school record and rank second in the North Region. At the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships on Feb. 27, Fox anchored the Scots' distance medley relay team of Jensen, Wilkins and Morris to take second and earn All-MIAC honors. The time of 12:30.35 ranks sixth in the North Region.

Rogahn-Press is scheduled to run the 400 meters at 3:05 p.m. and the 200 meters at 4:15 p.m. Central time on Friday, March 13. The top eight finishers in the prelims advance to Saturday's finals, with the 400 final taking place at 4:25 p.m. and the 200 final beginning at 5:15 p.m. The meet will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Ala.
