MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team maintained its position in fourth place after Day 2 of the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships Thursday night at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The Scots now have 167.5 points.
The highlight of the day for Macalester came in the 400-yard medley relay, as the foursome of sophomore
Kean Pajarillaga (Saipan, Marianas Pacific/Grace Christian Academy), senior
Will St. John (McGaheysville, Va./East Rockingham), junior
Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) and sophomore
Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) finished third with a time of 3:26.55. The performance earned All-MIAC status for the relay team.
In the individual events, Moore placed sixth in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:56.82 to receive All-MIAC honorable mention. Also in the 200 IM, St. John and first year
Isaac Snaza (Lakeville, Minn./Lakeville North) made the B final and took 14th and 15th, respectively.
Taufen turned in an All-MIAC honorable mention performance in the 50-yard freestyle, tying for sixth with a time of 21.26. Senior
TJ Palli (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) was 10th, and senior
Casey Meretta (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) placed 15th.
In the 500-yard freestyle, four Scots qualified for the B final. Pajarillaga finished ninth, first year
Edward Barnes (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan) was 13th, first year
Evan Fouts (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) took 14th, and sophomore
Bode Thompson (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) placed 16th.
The MIAC Championships continue on Friday, with sessions at 10:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center.
