ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team is set to compete at the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships, which begin today at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. The MIAC Championships run from Feb. 11-14. The Scots are looking to improve on their fourth-place finish a year ago.

Sophomore
Kean Pajarillaga (Saipan, Marianas Pacific/Grace Christian Academy) won the 200-yard backstroke and was named the MIAC Co-Rookie of the Year at last year's MIAC Championships. He also received All-MIAC honorable mention in the 500-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke, and swam on three All-MIAC relay teams. Another key returnee who placed in the top three to earn All-MIAC accolades was junior
Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy), who was third in the 200-yard individual medley. Senior
Will St. John (McGaheysville, Va./East Rockingham) received All-MIAC honorable mention in the 200-yard breaststroke, and sophomore
Bode Thompson (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) was All-MIAC honorable mention in the 200-yard butterfly. Other swimmers expected to score in multiple events include seniors
Casey Meretta (Potomac, Md./Winston Churchill) and
TJ Palli (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove), sophomores
Jack Schumacher (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) and
Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township), and first year
Edward Barnes (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan).
Senior diver
Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) is ranked fourth in the MIAC on both the 1- and 3-meter boards, and first year
Miles Remmel (Bellingham, Wash./Sehome) is ranked fifth on the 1-meter board.
