ST. PAUL, Minn. - Sophomore
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) was named the MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week for the week ending Feb. 8, the conference announced today. This is the third MIAC weekly award of the season for Rogahn-Press, who ran the 400 meters at the Frank Sevigne Husker Invitational on Friday at the Bob Devaney Sports Center in Lincoln, Neb.
Competing mostly against Division I and II athletes, Rogahn-Press placed second with a time of 54.60, behind only Sara Reifenrath of the University of South Dakota, who finished in 53.37 running unattached. The time is the sixth-fastest time ever run by a Division III athlete and is tied for the fastest time in Division III so far this season.
Rogahn-Press also broke her own school record of 55.97, which was set in the prelims of last year's NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships. An All-American in the 400 both indoors and outdoors last year, she took sixth at the national indoor meet and was fourth at the outdoor championships.
Earlier this year, Rogahn-Press was chosen the MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week on Dec. 8 and Feb. 3. She also has the 14th-fastest time in the 200 meters this season.
Macalester competes at the Meet of Hearts on Saturday, Feb. 14 at Carleton.
