| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team is ranked No. 6 in the latest Region IX rankings by the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced today. The Scots moved down two spots from last week after losing a pair of close MIAC matches.

Last week Macalester (3-3-3, 2-2 MIAC) fell to Gustavus, 1-0 on a late goal on Wednesday at John Leaney Field at Macalester Stadium. Senior goalkeeper Drew Moseman (St. Paul, Minn./Central) made five saves for the Scots. Then on Saturday, Saint John's, now ranked 17th nationally this week, edged Macalester, 2-1 on a pair of second-half goals. First year forward John Albright (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) tallied his team-leading fourth goal of the season in the fourth minute, while sophomore goalkeeper Justin Ratner (Dallas, Texas/Highland Park) registered a career-high 10 saves.

St. Olaf repeats as No. 1 in the national and Region IX polls this week, while Saint John's stays at No. 2 in the region rankings. Gustavus moves to third, followed by UW-Eau Claire, Luther, Macalester, Augsburg and Wartburg. Wednesday night's opponent, UW-Superior, received votes along with Loras and UW-Whitewater.

This week the Scots play a non-conference game at home against UW-Superior on Wednesday, Oct. 7 before resuming their MIAC schedule with a game at Bethel on Saturday, Oct. 11. The game against the Yellowjackets begins at 7:30 p.m. at John Leaney Field at Macalester Stadium.
