ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester men's soccer team hosted Gustavus-Adolphus College for the Scots' third MIAC matchup of the season on Wednesday evening. The Scots put forth a strong effort, but the Gusties tallied the game's only goal in the 89th minute for a 1-0 win. The Scots are now 3-2-3 on the season and 2-1 in conference, while the Gusties improve to 5-2-1 overall and 3-0 in the MIAC.
After easing into the first half, Macalester put Gustie goalkeeper Jackson Baker to work. First-year forward
Charlie Hall (Washington, D.C./St. John's College) sent a shot on goal to low center in the 27th minute. Seconds later first-year forward
John Albright (Minnetonka, Minn./Minnetonka) followed up with a high center attempt. While neither found the back of the net, Baker would face four shots on goal during the match.
In the 88th minute, the Gusties found a close look and secured the sole goal of the game. Kieran Mahan placed a shot into the right side of the goal, and Gustavus held on for the 1-0 win.

Leo See Shipman (Minneapolis, Minn./Edison), Hall, Albright each closed the match with one shot on goal. See Shipman had a free kick in the 67th minute glance off the top of the wall and out of play.

Drew Moseman (St. Paul, Minn./Central) closed the match with five saves, as the Scots held a slight 12-11 edge in shots taken.
For their next match, the Scots will travel to Collegeville, Minn., on Saturday, Oct. 3. They'll face 24th-ranked Saint John's University in a MIAC game at 4:20 p.m.
