ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track & field team hosted 14 teams at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic Saturday afternoon in the Leonard Center. The Scots placed seventh in the team scoring with 42 points.
The highlight of the meet for Macalester came in the mile, with sophomore
Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) defeating Carleton All-American Hannah Preisser by .03 seconds with a time of 5:09.02. The time currently is the fastest time in the MIAC this season. Also on the track, sophomore All-American
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) finished second in the finals of the 60 meters with a time of 7.84. Her time of 7.79 in the prelims was a personal best and ranks second all-time at Macalester. Sophomore
Claire Beckley (Carlisle, Mass./Concord Carlisle) placed fifth in the 60 meters in 8.14. In the 60-meter hurdles, first year
Eva Abreu (Havertown, Pa./Haverford) finished second with a finals time of 9.23, which ranks second on the Scots' all-time list.
In the 600 meters, sophomore
Megan Worry (Menlo Park, Calif./Notre Dame) took eighth with a time of 1:49.22. In the final event of the meet, the 4x400-meter relay team of Rogahn-Press, Abreu, senior
Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) and Beckley finished fourth with a time of 4:07.82. The performance ranks seventh all-time at Macalester.
In the field events, sophomore
Juliet Reichardt (Tiburon, Calif./Marin Academy) took fifth in the high jump after clearing 1.45 meters (4-9). Junior
Jessica Lin (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) finished sixth in the weight throw with a personal-best toss of 14.22 (46-8), which is second on Macalester's all-time performance list.
Next up for Macalester is the St. Olaf Invitational next weekend, Jan. 30-31 in Northfield, Minn.
