MAPLE PLAIN, Minn. – The Macalester College men's golf team participated in the Minnesota Golf Classic, hosted by Bethel at Pioneer Creek Golf Course. The Scots placed 10th out of 15 teams with a three-round score of 917, including a third-round score of +14 302.
First year
Ray Zhang (San Ramon, Calif./Dougherty Valley) led Macalester in his first collegiate competition, tying for 29th with a score of 222. That score is tied for the second lowest score in the program's history. Senior
Harry Cheng (Taipei, Taiwan/Heping Municipal) was next, tying for 65th with a score of 231, while sophomore
Aaron Cheng (Mountain View, Calif./Taipei American School) tied for 70th with a 232. Sophomore
Liam Sarmiento (Sioux Falls, S.D./O'Gorman) closed with a third-round score of 73 to tie for 76th with a score of 233.
The Scots head to Hartford, Wis., for the Wisconsin Lutheran Invitational Sept. 13-14 at Washington Country Golf Course.
