| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's soccer team moved up one spot to fifth in this week's Region IX coaches poll conducted by the United Soccer Coaches, the organization announced today. The Scots won a pair of games last week to improve to 5-1 on the season.

Junior midfielder Kasdan Blattman (San Jose, Calif./Bellarmine) registered three assists in two games last week. In a 2-1 win at UW-Superior, he assisted on the game-winning goal by junior midfielder Jack Freimann (Denver, Colo./Northfield) in the 21st minute. Then on Saturday, Blattman assisted on both of Macalester's goals in a 2-0 shutout of Nebraska Wesleyan. Senior defender Nick Kent (St. Louis Park, Minn./St. Louis Park) and first year midfielder Milan Shah (Chicago, Ill./Francis W. Parker) tallied second-half goals in the win.

Augsburg, who is ranked fifth in the national poll, sits atop the Region IX rankings, followed by No. 17 UW-Eau Claire, Gustavus and St. Olaf. Luther dropped one spot behind Macalester, with Carleton and Lake Forest rounding out the top eight rankings.

The Scots begin MIAC play on Saturday, Sept. 20 at St. Olaf. The game starts at 1:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn.
