Women’s Track & Field: Myatt, Rogahn-Press Named All-Academic Athletes, Macalester Earns All-Academic Team Award from USTFCCCA

ST. PAUL, Minn. - Macalester College rising junior Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) and rising sophomore Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) of the women's track & field team were recognized by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as All-Academic Athletes, the organization announced today. Additionally, the Scots were named an All-Academic Team.

To qualify as an USTFCCCA All-Academic team, the program must register at least a 3.10 cumulative GPA. The Scots finished the season with a team GPA of 3.61.
 
In order to receive USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of 3.30 or higher and have either competed in an NCAA indoor or outdoor championship, or finished the regular season ranked in the national top 50 individually or top 35 in a relay.

Myatt had success during both the indoor and outdoor seasons, winning the shot put at the MIAC Indoor Championships and placing third in the shot put at the MIAC Outdoor Championships to earn All-MIAC accolades. She also finished fifth in the pentathlon indoors and fourth in the heptathlon outdoors to receive All-MIAC honorable mention. The school record holder in the shot put indoors, her mark of 13.22 meters (43-4.5) ranked 37th nationally. Myatt is majoring in both economics and psychology.

Rogahn-Press was one of the top first year athletes in Division III, placing sixth in the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships and finishing fourth in the 400 at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships to earn All-American honors for both seasons. She was named the MIAC Rookie of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor seasons, and currently holds the school records in the 200 and 400 indoors and the 100, 200 and 400 outdoors after just one year at Macalester. Rogahn-Press' time of 53.88 was the second-fastest time in Division III in the 400 outdoors this season.
