ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track & field and cross country teams had five student-athletes earn Academic All-District honors, the College Sports Communicators announced today. The honorees are junior
Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) and sophomores
Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana),
Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep),
Ingrid Norquist (Minneapolis, Minn./Anoka) and
Seneca Wilson (Durango, Colo./Durango).
The CSC Academic All-America and All-District program honors student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and have a top 50 performance in the region in an individual event or at the cross country regional meet to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades.
Wilkins posted a personal-best time in the 800 meters this season, running a time of 2:18.86 at the Rider/Bolstorff Invitational at Macalester. She also earned All-MIAC honors in the distance medley relay indoors while receiving All-MIAC honorable mention in the 4x400-meter relay indoors and outdoors and the 4x200-meter relay indoors. A computer science and sociology double-major, Wilkins earned a spot on the Academic All-MIAC team last year.
Coldren was one of the Scots' top runners during the cross country season before excelling on the track. She helped the distance medley relay team finish third and earn All-MIAC status at the MIAC Indoor Championships and received All-MIAC honorable mention by finishing fifth in the 5000 meters at the MIAC Outdoor Championships. Coldren is an international studies major.
Myatt had an outstanding track & field season, winning the shot put at the MIAC Indoor Championships and placing third at the MIAC Outdoor Championships to earn All-MIAC accolades. She also finished fifth in the pentathlon indoors and fourth in the heptathlon outdoors to receive All-MIAC honorable mention. The school record holder in the shot put indoors, Myatt is majoring in both economics and psychology.
Norquist made an impact in her first year on the track & field team this spring. At the MIAC Indoor Championships, she placed fifth in the 5000 meters with a personal-best time of 18:25.50 to receive All-MIAC honorable mention. Norquist is a Spanish and psychology double-major.
Wilson turned in a personal best in the pole vault indoors, clearing 3.11 meters (10-2.5) to rank second all-time at Macalester. She also contributed to the 4x200-meter relay team's sixth-place finish at the MIAC Indoor Championships and the 4x100-meter relay team's fifth-place finish at the MIAC Outdoor Championships. Wilson is majoring in environmental studies and religious studies.
