ST. PAUL, Minn. - Macalester College first year Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) was recognized today by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) as a first team Division III Outdoor Track & Field All-American, the organization announced. Rogahn-Press earned All-American status by taking fourth in the finals of the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Saturday at SPIRE Institute. The top eight finishers in each event at the national meet qualify for All-American honors.

In Saturday's finals of the 400, Rogahn-Press held on to fourth with a time of 54.34, .02 behind Marina Miller of MIT and .02 ahead of Sarah Schermerhorn of Hope. Emory's Eva Charchidi won the race in 53.94, with McKenzie Reser of Augustana (Ill.) taking second with a time of 54.07. In Friday's prelims, Rogahn-Press ran a personal-best time of 53.88, the second-fastest time by .01 seconds in Division III this season and the 11th-fastest time ever run at the Division III level.

This is the second All-American award this year for Rogahn-Press, who also was an All-American in the 400 indoors with a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Indoor Championships in March.

The national meet ended an outstanding debut season for Rogahn-Press. She was named the MIAC Rookie of the Year for both the indoor and outdoor seasons, and currently holds the school records in the 200 and 400 indoors and the 100, 200 and 400 outdoors after just one year at Macalester. She is the third Macalester women's track & field athlete to earn All-American honors both indoors and outdoors in the same season and in the same event, joining Phoebe Aguiar '19 in the 800 meters (2019) and Mary Schlick '87 in the 1500 meters (1986 and 1987).
