ST. PAUL, Minn. - Macalester College first year Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) earned All-North Region honors in the 400 meters, the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association announced today. Athletes must be ranked in the top five regionally in an individual event, or top three in a relay to receive All-Region honors.

Rogahn-Press ran the second-fastest time in the region and in Division III at the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships on May 10 at Macalester, taking second with a time of 53.89. She finished behind Gustavus' Megan Geraets, who won by .02 seconds with the regional and national-leading time of 53.87. Rogahn-Press' time also is the 11th-fastest time ever run at the Division III level and qualifies her for this weekend's NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships. She also finished second in the 200 meters and helped the Scots' 4x100- and 4x400-meter relay teams take fifth and fourth, respectively at the MIAC Championships and was named the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year.

Also named the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Rookie of the Year, Rogahn-Press earned All-American honors indoors with a sixth-place finish in the 400 at the NCAA Indoor Championships. In her first season at Macalester, she has posted school records in the 200 and 400 indoors and the 100, 200 and 400 outdoors, and has four All-MIAC performances. Her national-qualifying time of 56.22 in the 400, and her school-record time of 25.21, both ranked in the top five in the North Region, earning her All-Region honors indoors in both events.

The preliminaries of the 400 meters at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships begin at 2:15 p.m. on Friday, May 23, with the finals taking place on Saturday, May 24 at 1:20 p.m. The meet will be held at SPIRE Academy in Geneva, Ohio.
