WAVERLY, Iowa - Macalester College women's track & field athletes
Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) and
Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School) both lowered their own school records at the Wartburg Final Qualifier Saturday afternoon.
Myatt, who won the shot put at the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships last weekend with a mark of 13.17 meters (43-2.5), eclipsed that record on her fourth attempt on Saturday with a toss of 13.22 meters (43-4.5). The performance ranks 36th in Division III this season.
The MIAC Rookie of the Year, Rogahn-Press placed third in the 200 meters in 25.21, taking .01 off the school record she set at the MIAC Championships in taking second. Her new time ranks 29th in Division III. Rogahn-Press currently has the ninth-fastest time in the 400 meters in Division III this season, which will likely qualify her for the NCAA Division III Championships.
The top 20 athletes who declare in each event will be selected to compete at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships on Mar. 14-15 in Rochester, N.Y. The field will be announced on Sunday, Mar. 9 on NCAA.com.
