MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming & diving team posted a win in the relays while qualifying several swimmers to the finals on the second day of the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships, held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center Thursday evening. The Scots are just 4.5 points behind Gustavus for first place with 226.5 points after two days of competition.

The final race of the night saw Macalester's 400-yard medley relay team of senior Verity Wray-Raabolle (Owatonna, Minn./Bethlehem Academy), junior Izzy Uhlhorn-Thornton (Mill Valley, Calif./Tamalpais), senior Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) and senior Olga Merkadeau (Lafayette, Calif./The College Preparatory School) finish first with a school-record time of 3:51.41, smashing the old record of 3:53.76 set at last year's MIAC Championships. The win follows last night's victory in the 200-yard medley relay.

In the individual events, Wray-Raabolle took second in the 50-yard freestyle in 23.95, .03 seconds behind winner Katie Homme of St. Olaf. Chapon took fourth in the 50 free, with Merkadeau finishing ninth. Senior Skye Schmit (Stillwater, Minn.) was one of three Scots to qualify for the A final in the 500-yard freestyle, taking third in 5:10.60. First years Maya Tellez (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury) and Amalia Shields (Madison, Wis./Madison West) also made the A final, with Tellez tying for fourth and Shields taking eighth.
