ROCK ISLAND, Ill. – The Macalester College men's cross country team participated in the Augustana Interregional Invitational, hosted by Augustana College Saturday morning. The Scots finished 32nd in a field that included 14 teams ranked among the top 30 teams in Division III.
Macalester was led by first year
Chase Fitterer (Spokane, Wash./International School of Business), who covered the 8000-meter course in 26:16.4 to finish 145th out of 339 finishers. Next across the finish line for the Scots was senior
Tyler Edwards (Beaverton, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) in 158th (26:21.4), followed by sophomore
Caleb Hatlevig (Stow, Mass./Francis W. Parker Charter Essential School) in 210th (26:47.8) and junior
Owen Lafferty (Woodbury, Minn./Mounds Park Academy) in 243rd (27:07.9). Senior
Jay Lebakken (Minneapolis, Minn./Edina) closed out the Scots' top five right behind Lafferty in 244th (27:08.0).
The race served as the final tune-up for the MIAC Championships, which will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1 at Highland National Golf Course in St. Paul.
