ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College sophomore
John Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) was named a men's cross country Division III All-Academic Athlete by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association, the organization announced. Additionally, the Scots received Division III All-Academic Team accolades.
The USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes must have a cumulative grade-point average of at least 3.30 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 percent of their respective regional championship meet. Ihrke was the Scots' top finisher at the North Region Meet on Nov. 15, taking 44th. He also finished eighth at the MIAC Championships to earn All-MIAC honors and lead the team to a third-place finish.
In order to qualify for All-Academic Team honors, teams must post at least a 3.10 cumulative team grade-point average and record a complete team score at the NCAA Regional Meet. Macalester turned in a team GPA of 3.69.
