ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College senior
Quinn Hoisington (Seattle, Wash./Lincoln) was recognized as All-MIAC as the conference announced its year-ending awards for men's cross country today. The top 15 finishers at last Saturday's MIAC Championships, held at St. Olaf, are All-MIAC, while places 16 through 25 receive All-MIAC honorable mention.
Hoisington finished seventh at the MIAC Championships with a time of 25:40.9, the highest finish by a Scot since
Wade Eckstrom '10 finished fifth in 2009. Hoisington has shown great improvement since arriving at Macalester in 2023, missing the meet as a first year due to injury, taking 54th as a sophomore and studying abroad as a junior. This past spring he was All-MIAC indoors in the 3000 meters and scored in the 1500 and 5000 outdoors.
As a team the Scots took fourth place with 115 points, 22 points behind third-place Saint John's and 13 ahead of Bethel.
Cole Stencel of Saint John's, who won the individual title, was named the MIAC Athlete of the Year for men's cross country. St. Scholastica's Cadyn Vanderwal was chosen the Rookie of the Year, while Luke Kopnick of St. Olaf is the Coach of the Year.
Macalester will compete in the Cannon River Closer on Nov. 5 and the NCAA North Region meet on Saturday, Nov. 14, with both events being held at St. Olaf.
