ST. PAUL, Minn. — The Macalester College women's track and field team hosted three other schools in the Leonard Center today for the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic to kick off the new year. Two Scots logged new program records as Macalester came away with second place. The Scots scored 140 points to fall just six points shy of first-place Hamline.
The headliner of the day for the Scots on the track was first year Ariella Rogahn-Press (Albuquerque, N.M./Bosque School), who won the 200m with a 25.59 finish that broke the venue, meet and program record times. The 1.86 second gap between Rogahn-Press and the second-place finisher was greater than the gap between the second-place finisher and tenth. In the 600m, senior Anna Warren (St. Louis, Mo./Marquette) won with a 1:49.96 time. First year Kate Fox (Seattle, Wash./Roosevelt) won the 1000m in 3:10.13. The 4x400m relay team of junior Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School), Rogahn-Press, Fox and first year Megan Worry (Menlo Park, Calif./Notre Dame) won with a 4:10.68 finish.
The Scots' headliner in the field was sophomore Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep), who launched a 12.66m (41' 6.5") shot put to mark a new school record by almost a full foot. Her record lands as the 31st-best in Division III this season. First year Juliet Reichardt (Tiburon, Calif./Marin Academy) won the high jump in a jump off after she achieved a height of 1.50m (4' 11"). Sophomore Seneca Wilson (Durango, Colo./Durango) won the pole vault with a mark of 2.60m (8' 6.25").
Macalester continues its indoor season next weekend at the Mark Shuck Open & Multi on Saturday, Feb. 1 in Mankato, Minn.
