ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's golf team received votes in the 2024-25 Preseason Mizuno WGCA Division III Coaches Poll, which was released today. The Scots received two points in the poll, marking the first time Macalester has appeared in the national poll since the 2022 fall season.
So far this fall, Macalester, coached by
Johnny Greene, has turned in three solid rounds. Last Friday the Scots defeated Crown in a dual at Island View Golf Course in Waconia, Minn., with junior
Bailey Lengfelder (Renton, Wash./Hazen) setting a school record with a round of 70. At the CSB Invitational Saturday and Sunday, Macalester placed fourth with a two-round score of 640 at Blackberry Ridge Golf Course in Sartell, Minn. Junior
Emily Bruce (Orleans, Ontario/Ashbury College) finished in fifth place with a score of 153, including a career-low 74 in the second round.
Other MIAC schools that appear in the poll include St. Catherine (ninth) and Carleton (16th). Defending national champion Carnegie Mellon University is ranked first after receiving 17 first-place votes.
The Scots will compete at the Central Region Fall Preview Sept. 7-8 at Legacy Golf in Faribault, Minn.
