NORMAL, Ill. – The Macalester College women's golf team moved up from eighth after the first round to a tie for fourth at the Kathy Niepagan Spring Fling, hosted by Illinois Wesleyan at Ironwood Golf Course. The Scots posted scores of 313 312 - 623 to tie with Grinnell for fourth place out of 21 teams.
Senior
Bailey Lengfelder (Renton, Wash./Hazen) was a big part of the comeback, shooting a -2 70 for the lowest score of the second round. She tied for 10th individually with a two-round score of 153. First year
Yangyang Gu (Nantong, Jiansu, China/Shanghai Experimental School) tied for 17th with a score of 156, while first year
Esther Shen (Barcelona, Spain/The Benjamin Franklin International School) carded a 158 to tie for 25th. Senior
Emily Bruce (Orleans, Ontario/Ashbury College) and sophomore
Ava Austria (Portland, Ore./Catlin Gabel) tied for 33rd with identical scores of 161.
Macalester concludes the 2025-26 season at the St. Kate's/Carleton Golf Invite May 2-3.
