ST. PETER, Minn. – The Macalester College men's tennis team traveled to Gustavus to compete in the ITA Regional and Midwest Open, held Friday and Saturday.

In singles play at the ITA Regional, seniors Alec Sargent (Rochester, Minn./Rochester Century) and Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) both won their first-round matches, with Sargent defeating Grant Idoux of Coe and Wood beating Otto Schluter of UW-Eau Claire. Both Sargent and Wood lost in the second round. In doubles, Wood and senior Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) advanced to the second round via a withdrawal, then lost to a team from Gustavus. Sargent and senior Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy) lost their first-round doubles match.

At the Midwest Open, Lynch won his first round singles match over Cornell's Mills Arnold before losing to Grinnell's Aman Kothari. In doubles, senior Maxwell Davis (Warwick, Pa./Stone Independent School) and sophomore Kangyu Li (Shanhai, China/Shanghai Southwest Weiyu) defeated a team from Loras in the first round before falling to a team from UW-Stevens Point in the second round. In the C draw for singles, Davis beat Malcolm Rice of UW-Stevens Point in the first round before losing in the second round. First year Zach Dajani (Singapore/Singapore American School) also won his first-round match against Ben Vorpahl of Concordia-Wisconsin before falling in Round 2.
