ST. PAUL, Minn. - Macalester College seniors Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, Tenn./St. Andrew's-Sewanee School) and Penelope Hunter (Granville, Ohio/Granville) were included on the Academic All-District team for women's track & field and cross country, the College Sports Communicators (CSC) announced today.

The CSC Academic All-America and All-District program honors student-athletes for excellence in both academics and athletics. Student-athletes must be a sophomore, junior or senior, have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.50 or higher and have a top 50 performance in the region in an individual event to be considered for Academic All-District and All-American accolades.

This is the second year in a row on the Academic All-District team for Hobby, who majored in environmental studies and history at Macalester. This year she earned All-MIAC honors in the pentathlon indoors and the heptathlon and javelin outdoors. Her point total of 3,192 in the pentathlon at the MIAC Championships placed third, broke the school record and ranked 12th regionally and 32nd nationally. A two-time member of the Academic All-MIAC team, Hobby earned a spot on the USTFCCCA All-Academic team last year.

Hunter posted personal bests in the 60 and 200 meters indoors and the 100 and 200 meters outdoors in her senior season. At the MIAC Outdoor Championships, she qualified for the finals in the 100 meters and placed ninth. An economics and environmental studies major, Hunter made the Academic All-MIAC team as a sophomore and junior.
