ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Macalester College women's track & field team competed on the first day of the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships Friday at Hamline University. The Scots scored six points and qualified a pair of sprinters for Saturday's finals.
Senior
Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, Tenn./St. Andrew's-Sewanee School) placed seventh in the long jump with a personal-best leap of 17-3.25 (5.26). The mark ranks sixth all-time at Macalester. The Scots' 4x800-meter relay team also scored points with a fifth-place finish. The foursome of first years

Destiny Osemwengie (Buford, Ga./Peachtree Ridge) and
Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) and sophomore
Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) turned in a time of 9:58.34.
Macalester qualified two sprinters in the 100-meter dash preliminary heats. First year
Diarra Chatham (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) ran the fourth-best time in the prelims (12.41), while senior
Penelope Hunter (Granville, Ohio/Granville) qualified ninth with a time of 12.74. The finals of the 100 take place on Saturday at 3:20 p.m.
Several Scots posted personal bests on Friday, including Hunter and first year
Elise Edison (Georgetown, Ky./Great Crossing) in the 200-meter dash, senior
Adrienne Korey (Chicago, Ill./Jones College Prep) in the 1500 meters, senior
Mariah Loeffler-Kemp (Duluth, Minn./Duluth East) in the 10,000 meters, and first year
Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) in the long jump.
The MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships conclude on Saturday, May 11 at Hamline. The first events begin at noon.
