Box Score ORLANDO, Fla. – The Macalester College men's tennis team rounded out their spring trip today with a 9-0 shutout victory against the Western Connecticut State Wolves. Macalester finished the trip 2-2, with an overall record so far of 4-6.
Slated at No. 1 doubles juniors
Lucas Wood (Urbana, Ill./University Lab School) and
Jordan Doi (Mililani, Hawaii/Mililani) took down their opponents 8-2. Junior
Owen Lindstrom (Hanover, Minn./St. Michael-Albertville) paired with first year
Kevin Mortimer at second doubles to win 8-3. Another pair of juniors,
Maxwell Davis (Warwick, Pa./Stone Independent School) and
Liam Lynch (St. Paul, Minn./St. Paul Academy), blasted past their opponents 8-1.
Lynch won at first singles 6-2, 6-1. At No. 2 singles, Wood won in three sets (6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (12-10 tiebreaker)). Slated at third singles, senior
Lewis Jolly (Grinnell, Iowa/Grinnell) won 6-1, 6-0. Mortimer only gave up one game (6-0, 6-1) in his victory at fourth singles. Lindstrom took the point at fifth singles (6-0, 6-2), while Maxwell earned the points at sixth singles in two 6-1 sets.
Macalester's next match will be Saturday March 23. The Scots return to conference play, competing against St. Olaf at 2:00 pm in Northfield, Minn.
