NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team registered the most top finishers at the Meet of the Hearts today, hosted by Carleton.
First year
Diarra Chatham (Woodbury, Minn./East Ridge) won the 55m dash in a time of 7.29. This is the third fastest time in program history. In the 55m hurdles senior
Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, Tenn./St. Andrew's-Sewanee School) took third with a time of 9.14. This is the tenth best time in school history and a personal record. Senior
Penelope Hunter (Granville, Ohio/Granville) took second in the 200m with a personal indoor best time of 27.36. First year
Elise Edison (Chelmsford, Mass./Gould Academy) ran the 400m in a time of 1:02.25 and took second-place. In the 600m, sophomore
Hadley Wilkins (St. Louis, Mo./Whitfield School) and junior
Anna Warren (St. Louis, Mo./Marquette) took second (1:46.02) and third (1:51.06). Warren's third place time was a personal record. First year
Destiny Osemwengie (Buford, Ga./Peachtree Ridge) finished third in the 1000m with a time of 3:18.40. Osemwengie also finished strong in the mile, taking fourth with a time of 5:37.40. Fellow first year
Timna Nevo (Portland, Ore./Sunset) finished just above Osemwengie in the mile. Her third-place time was 5:36.35. In the 3000m first year
Ivy Coldren (Frederick, Md./Urbana) set a personal best time of 10:30.94. Coldren finished ninth and her time ranks as the eighth best in Macalester history. The Scots also had their 4x200m Relay team take victory. Hunter, sophomore
Zoe Carver (Saint Paul, Minn./Mounds Park Academy), senior
Yinka Saba (Elk Grove Village, Ill./Elk Grove), and first year
Harmony-Keli Tomety (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook East) finished first in a time of 1:53.60.
In the field, first year
Jessica Lin (Bedford, Mass./Bedford) won the shot put with a personal best mark of 11.64m (38' 2.25"). Hobby finished third with a mark of 11.12m (36' 5.75"). Lin also set a personal record in the weight throw of 13.31m (43' 8") and took second. This is the fifth best mark in Macalester history. In the pole vault, first year
Seneca Wilson (Durango, Colo./Durango) and sophomore
Roen Boyd (Minneapolis, Minn./South) took second and third. Both set marks of 2.55m (8' 4.25"). Macalester also took second and third in the long jump. First year
Tessa Myatt (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) jumped a personal best 4.62m (15' 2") while sophomore
Lauren Cappelmann (Harrington Park, N.J./Northern Valley Old Tappan) jumped a personal best 4.21m (13' 9.75").
The Scots' next meet will be Saturday February 17. The Scots compete at the St. Olaf Tostrud Classic in Northfield, Minn.
