ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team hosted Saint John's University in the first home meet of the season Saturday afternoon at Riley Pool. In the team scoring, the Scots lost to the Johnnies, 151.5 to 89.5 despite several strong performances.
Macalester opened the meet by winning the 200-yard medley relay, with first year
Kean James Pajarillaga (Saipan, Marianas Pacific/Grace Christian Academy), senior
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill), sophomore
Thomas Moore (Philadelphia, Pa./Science Leadership Academy) and senior
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) winning with a time of 1:37.57.
In the individual events, Moore placed first in the 400-yard individual medley with a time of 4:31.81. Pajarillaga also won the 100-yard backstroke in 53.81, while Batsaikhan took first in the 100-yard backstroke in 1:00.60.
Runner-up finished were turned in by first year
Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) in the 100-yard freestyle (49.29), sophomore
William Haby (Denver, Colo./George Washington) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:09.65), and junior
Will St. John (McGaheysville, Va./East Rockingham) in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.22). Pajarillaga also took third in the 200-yard freestyle, Kisker was third in the 50-yard freestyle, and senior
Ramier Villarama (Bayonne, N.J./High Tech) finished third in the 400-yard individual medley.
In the diving events, junior
Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) placed third on the 3-meter board with a score of 207.05 and finished fourth on the 1-meter board with a score of 206.90.
Macalester's next meet is at home against Carleton on Saturday, Nov. 9 at Riley Pool.
