WAVERLY, Iowa – The Macalester College men's track and field team competed at its first meet of the outdoor season this weekend at the Wartburg Outdoor Select in Waverly, Iowa. The Scots finished 13
th.
On the track, sophomore
Arlo Heitler (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) finished fifth in the 200m dash, with a time of 22.31. Fellow sophomores
Ben Crotteau (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southeast),
Reece McKee (Charlottesville, VA./Charlottesville), and
Tor Olsson (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) led the Scots in the 5000m run. Crotteau (15:16.50), McKee (15:28.86), and Olsson (15:48.92) finished fourth, seventh, and 13
th respectively, all setting personal records. The 4x100m relay team of sophomores
Riley Hodin (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) and
Jacob Kogut (Livingston, N.J./Livingston), and first years
Sebastian Stefanowicz (Portland, Ore./Valley Catholic) and
Aki Wada (San Diego, Calif./Mount Carmel) finished 10
th.
In the field, Hodin took third in the triple jump with a personal best outdoor mark of 13.56m (44' 6"). This is the eighth best mark in Macalester history. Sophomore
Max Menache (Beverly Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills) set a personal record in the hammer throw with a mark of 45.47m (149' 2"), finishing 13
th. This is the fifth best mark in Macalester history.
Macalester's next meet is scheduled for Friday April 7. The Scots will compete at the St. Thomas Invite in St. Paul, Minn.
