MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team went to Minneapolis today to compete in the Gopher Classic, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
Senior
Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) won the triple jump with a mark of 11.55m (37' 10.75"). This mark beat the previous best mark at the Gopher Classic, which was 10.75m. Fellow senior
Sara Gregor (Bloomington, Minn./The Blake School) took seventh in the long jump with a mark of 4.98m (16' 4.25"). This is a personal record for Gregor.
On the track, junior
Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster) took third in the mile, with a time of 5:08.03. Blaesing's time currently ranks 45
th in Division III. Senior
Erin Franke (Chicago, Ill./Northside College Prep) came in eighth in the event. Sophomore
Adisa Preston (Eden Prairie, Minn./Eden Prairie) took seventh in the 600m run (1:46.56). Sophomore
Sylvia Coyle (Wyoming, Ohio/Wyoming) and senior
Jesse Colnes (Montpelier, Vt./U-32) placed ninth (11:37.44) and tenth (11:48.15) respectively in the 3000m run. Gregor, Preston, Blaesing, and Amundson teamed up for the 4x400m relay and came in second-place, in a time of 4:12.68.
Macalester will compete next weekend, Saturday February 11, at the Meet of the Hearts, in Northfield, Minn., hosted by Carleton.
