MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team competed at the Gopher Classic today, hosted by the University of Minnesota.
Sophomore
Tor Olsson (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) took third in the 800m run. He ran a personal best of 1:59.35, which bested the previous record for the Gopher Classic. Fellow sophomore
Kalid Ali (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park) placed ninth in the event. In the 600m run, first year
Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault) took fifth, with a time of 1:26.02, the eighth best mark in Macalester history. Sophomore
Ben Crotteau (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln Southeast) placed second in the 3000m run with a personal best time of 8:41.00. Crotteau's mark ranks third all-time in Macalester history. Sophomores
Nick Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and
Reece McKee (Charlottesville, VA./Charlottesville) came in 10
th and 13
th respectively in the mile. Ihrke's time of 4:23.81 is a personal best and the eighth best in Macalester history.
In the field, sophomore
Riley Hodin (Buffalo, N.Y./Amherst Central) came in fourth in the triple jump with a mark of 12.91m (42' 4.25"). Taking eighth in the triple jump was first year
Sebastian Stefanowicz (Portland, Ore./Valley Catholic) with a mark of 11.79m (38' 8.25"). Sophomore
Max Menache (Beverly Hills, Calif./Beverly Hills) came in eighth in the weight throw with a mark of 15.32m (50' 3.25"). Senior
Victor Wright (Cape Coral, Fla./Mariner) came in 12
th in the weight throw.
Macalester will compete next weekend, Saturday February 11, at the Meet of the Hearts, in Northfield, Minn., hosted by Carleton.
