ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's track and field team ended the MIAC Indoor Championships today in seventh place of 10 teams. The Scots registered 36 points. This is the best finish for the program since 2006.
Sophomore
Tor Olsson (Northampton, Mass./Northampton) earned All-MIAC honorable mention, finishing fifth in the 3000m run. His time of 8:36.26 is a personal best and ranks second all-time in Macalester history. The 4x400m relay team of first year
Henry Schonebaum (Faribault, Minn./Faribault), graduate student
Ryan Kinnucan (Portland, Ore./Grant), and sophomores
Jeff Wang (Harleysville, Pa./North Penn) and
Kalid Ali (St. Paul, Minn./Como Park), also earned All-MIAC honorable mention with a fifth-place finish (3:29.19). This time is the tenth best in Macalester history.
Also scoring points for the Scots today, was sophomore
Arlo Heitler (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) and the 4x200m relay team of Kinnucan, Wang, Schonebaum, and sophomore
Jacob Kogut (Livingston, N.J./Livingston). Heitler took seventh in the 200m dash with a time of 22.68. The 4x200m relay team also came in seventh, with a time of 1:32.39, which is the fifth best time in Macalester history.
Bethel won the Championships with 143.5 points.
The Scots' next meet will be the Last Chance Meet, hosted by Wartburg in Waverly, Iowa on Saturday March 4.
