ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester women's soccer team had three players recognized by the MIAC today, as the conference announced its season end awards. First year forward
Julia Hanson (Weston, Mass./Weston) and first year goalkeeper
Abigail Heuga (San Francisco, Calif./Urban School of San Francisco) were named All-MIAC, while senior defender
Livi Novello (East Lansing, Mich./East Lansing) was named All-MIAC Honorable Mention. Novello was also named to the All-Playoff team.
Hanson started in all 18 games this season, and was an essential part of the Scots' offense in her debut season. She co-led the team with five goals this season. She scored three game winners, all of which were 1-0 wins against Gustavus on Sept 16, Bethel on Sept 27, and St. Scholastica on Oct 7. She also recorded four assists this season.
Heuga played in all 18 games this season, starting in 14. She recorded a save percentage of .904, the second-best save percentage in the MIAC. Heuga totaled 103 saves this season, denying opponents and being a crucial factor in close matches this season.
Novello was a key defender for the Scots not only this year, but throughout her career. In 2023, she started and played in 16 games this season, tallying a goal in the final game of the season against Augsburg on Oct 30. Novello was key to keeping competitors away from Macalester's net.
