ST. PAUL, Minn. – Macalester College junior midfielder
Adi Nhouyvanisvong (Wayzata, Minn./Minnetonka) was named to the All-MIAC team, as the conference announced its year-end awards for women's soccer today. Also recognized was senior midfielder
Maia Lemov (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central), who received All-MIAC honorable mention, and sophomore defender
Ava Arredondo (St. Paul, Minn./Highland Park), who made the All-Playoff Team.
Nhouyvanisvong, who missed most of last season due to injury, came back in a big way this season, leading the Scots with four goals and seven assists for 15 points. In the second game of the season, she tallied a goal and an assist in an 8-0 win at Crown on Sept. 3. Nhouyvanisvong also had a goal and an assist in wins over Bethel and St. Scholastica, then helped the Scots beat Bethel, 4-0 in the season finale with a goal and an assist, clinching a berth in the MIAC Playoffs. Her seven assists on the season rank third in the MIAC, and she is 11th in the conference in points. Through 45 career games, Nhouyvanisvong has 11 goals and 10 assists for 32 points.
Lemov registered two goals and an assist on the year while ranking second on the team in minutes played with 1,424. Both of her goals were game-winners, coming on back-to-back games against Gustavus Adolphus and St. Scholastica on Oct. 18 and 22. Lemov, who has been in the top three in minutes played for the Scots in each of the past three seasons, plays a key role in the midfield as a ball-winner and distributor. She finishes her career with three goals and two assists for eight points in 72 games.
Arredondo provided a steady presence as a central defender for Macalester over the second half of the season. In the MIAC Playoff game against Augsburg, she played a major role in keeping MIAC Player of the Year Jayla Ponce off the score sheet in a narrow 2-1 defeat.
In addition to Ponce's honor, Katie Beaudry of St. Olaf was chosen the Defensive Player of the Year. St Catherine's Ceci Emery was selected the MIAC Rookie of the Year, and her coach Jesse Campos was named the Coach of the Year.
