Women’s Soccer: Macalester Posts Highest Team GPA in Nation

| By:
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's soccer team tied for first among all women's soccer programs in all divisions in team grade-point average for the 2025-26 academic year. The Scots were recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as a recipient of the Team Academic Award, the association announced today. Macalester is one of 178 schools to have both the men's and women's programs achieve the honor.

The Scots posted a combined grade-point average of 3.84 for the 2025-26 academic year, which is tied for first with Division III members St. Olaf and Washington University in St. Louis, and Division II school Embry-Riddle. A total of 452 women's programs across all divisions qualified for the award, which requires a team GPA of at least 3.0.

Earlier this year, recent graduates Maia Lemov (Delmar, N.Y./Bethlehem Central) and Hazel Waters (Berkeley, Calif./Berkeley), rising seniors Abbey Birkey (Grand Rapids, Minn./Grand Rapids), Georgia LeWin-Mills (St. Paul, Minn./Breck School) and Miya Whiteley (Palo Alto, Calif./Palo Alto), and rising junior Shaylee O'Grady (Cumberland, Maine/Greely) were named to the Academic All-District Team by the College Sports Communicators. Those six Scots plus 22 teammates were included on the Academic All-MIAC Team for 2025-26.
