ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's golf team will compete at the MIAC Golf Championships this weekend at Bunker Hills in Coon Rapids, Minn. The three-round tournament begins Saturday and concludes on Monday.
The Scots have played in five events this fall, with first year
Harry Cheng (Taipei, Taiwan/Heping Municipal) leading Macalester in three of them. He is averaging a team-low 76.3 over eight rounds, followed by senior
Tommy Hayes (Chicago, Ill./Whitney M. Young Magnet) at 79.5 over 11 rounds. Sophomore
Ryan Vaver (Lafayette, Colo./Centaurus) has six rounds of 80 or under this season, while senior
Fritz Gessl (Chester Springs, Pa./Westtown) shot a 75 in the first round of the Twin Cities Classic this past weekend. Senior
Jason Shi (Wesley Chapel, Fla./Saddlebrook Prep) has shot four rounds under 80 out of his seven rounds played this fall.
