Women’s Track & Field: Hobby, Amundson Set Personal Records at Minnesota Icebreaker Invite

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. – The Macalester College women's track and field team sent senior Journey Amundson (Iron River, Wis./Northwestern) and junior Sarah Beth Hobby (South Pittsburg, Tenn./St. Andrew's-Sewanee School) to represent the Scots at the Minnesota Icebreaker Invite today.
 
Hobby competed in the pentathlon and finished sixth overall with a personal best 2562 points. Hobby came in third in the shot put with a throw of 10.07 meters (33' 0.50") which is a personal best. She finished fifth in both the high jump with a mark of 1.43 meters (4' 8.25") and in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 10.32, both of which were also personal records for Hobby. She placed sixth and seventh in the long jump and 800-meter run respectively.
 
Amundson placed fourth in the triple jump. She registered a mark of 11.27 meters (36' 11.75"). This is an indoor personal record for Amundson.
 
The Scots' next competition will be Saturday January 21, when they will host the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic.
