ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming and diving team competed in its final meet before the MIAC Championships, hosting Grinnell College on Saturday at Riley Pool. The Scots were outscored in the team scoring, 152.5-93.5.
First year
Jay Fanning (Tiffin, Ohio/Columbian) earned the lone individual victory for Macalester, winning the 500-yard freestyle in 5:14.85. Senior
Tanner Hubbard (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) finished second behind Fanning in 5:24.60. First year
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill) swam well in the breaststroke events, taking second in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:18.92 and third in the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:02.67. First year
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 22.88, while senior
Benjamin Blomquist (Las Vegas, Nev./Ed W. Clark) had the third-fastest time in the 200-yard individual medley (2:08.41).
The Scots closed out the meet by winning the 200-yard freestyle relay, with
Batsaikhan, Blomquist, Kisker and first year
Adam Schroeder (Altadena, Calif./St. Francis) posting a time of 1:32.76.
Before the meet, Macalester honored its seniors Blomquist, Hubbard and
Aidan Williams (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton College Prep) as a part of Senior Day.
The Scots will compete at the MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships on Feb. 16-19 at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
