NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming & diving team competed against Carleton College in a dual meet Saturday afternoon at Thorpe Pool. The Knights topped the Scots in the team scoring, 215-81.
Despite the team results, several Scots turned in strong performances. Sophomore
Kean Pajarillaga (Saipan, Marianas Pacific/Grace Christian Academy) won the 100-yard breaststroke in 53.72 and placed second in the 500-yard freestyle in 5:03.98. Senior
Will St. John (McGaheysville, Va./East Rockingham) won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:17.02 and finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke. Sophomore
Max Taufen (Evanston, Ill./Evanston Township) was second in both the 100-yard freestyle (50.08) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:06.72). Senior
TJ Palli (Maple Grove, Minn./Maple Grove) placed second in the 50-yard freestyle (22.41) and was third in the 200-yard freestyle (1:53.69).
Also swimming well was first year
Edward Barnes (Amherst, N.H./Souhegan), who was second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:29.85. Sophomore
Bode Thompson (Blacksburg, Va./Blacksburg) finished third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:08.13), and sophomore
Jack Schumacher (Golden, Colo./Lakewood) took third in the 100-yard butterfly (55.16).
In the diving events,
Dylan Herlihy (Reading, Mass./Phillips Academy Andover) placed second on both the 1-meter board (161.25) and the 3-meter board (197.60).
Macalester returns to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 15 against Hamline at home. The meet begins at 11:00 a.m. at Riley Pool.
