ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team is ranked 10th in the latest NCAA Division III Central Region rankings. This is the first regional ranking in the history of the program for the Scots, who are currently 6-1 on the season.

Arista Siebrits (Frisco, Texas/Laurel Springs) is ranked 11th in the Central Region singles rankings. Siebrits has a 5-2 record playing at No. 1 singles for the Scots this spring.
Macalester, coached by
Jason Muhl, went a perfect 3-0 last week, with wins over Saint Benedict, Bethel and Concordia. The victory over Bethel was the first over the Royals in nine years and was clinched by first year
Sydney Ellison (Birmingham, Ala./Spain Park), who won her match at No. 2 singles, 7-6, 7-5. Last night the Scots beat St. Olaf, 6-3 for their fourth win in a row.
Macalester is one of five teams from the MIAC ranked in the top 14 of the Central Region. St. Thomas, the only team to beat the Scots this season, is sixth, Gustavus is seventh, Bethel is ninth and St. Catherine is 14th. Macalester defeated St. Catherine, 8-1 on April 9 and is schedule to host Gustavus in the regular-season finale on May 2. The MIAC Playoffs begin on May 5.
The Scots' next match is Saturday, May 1 against Hamline at home. The MIAC dual begins at 9:00 a.m. at Hayden Tennis Courts.
