NORTHFIELD, Minn. – The Macalester College men's swimming and diving team had several standout performances in the pool in a dual meet at Carleton on Saturday. The Knights won the dual, 156-48.
First year
Charles Batsaikhan (Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia/East Chapel Hill) won the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:02.10. He also placed fourth in the 200-yard individual medley in 2:07.60. First year
Ben Lewin (Beachwood, Ohio/Beachwood) also swam well in the 100 breaststroke, taking fifth with a lifetime-best time of 1:05.99. First year
Isaac Kisker (Dayton, Ohio/Oakwood) finished second in the 50-yard freestyle (23.05), while senior
Benjamin Blomquist (Las Vegas, Nev./Ed W. Clark) took second in the 100-yard backstroke in 58.18. Blomquist also finished third in the 200 individual medley in 2:06.38.
Fourth-place finishes were turned in by first year
Jay Fanning (Tiffin, Ohio/Columbian) in the 1000-yard freestyle (11:27.86), first year
Adam Schroeder (Altadena, Calif./St. Francis) in the 200 freestyle (2:00.47), senior
Aidan Williams (Chicago, Ill./Walter Payton College Prep) in the 50 freestyle (23.12), sophomore
William Nicholson (North Yarmouth, Maine) in the 100-yard backstroke (1:02.41) and senior
Tanner Hubbard (Farmington, Minn./Farmington) in the 500-yard freestyle (5:25.21).
The Scots' 200-yard freestyle relay team of Blomquist, Kisker, Williams and Batsaikahn finished second with a time of 1:31.38. All four swimmers swam under 23 seconds, with Blomquist registering a lifetime best of 22.94.
Macalester's next competition is the Grace Goblirsch Invite, held at Gustavus on Nov. 20.
