ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College cross country teams are headed to the MIAC Championships on Saturday, Oct. 30 at St. Olaf. The last MIAC meet took place in 2019, with the women's team placing seventh and the men finishing ninth.

The Scots' women's team is led by sophomore Maria Blaesing (Munster, Ind./Munster), who was the first Scot across the finish line in all three races she has run this fall. Most recently, Blaesing was 30th in a strong field at the UW-La Crosse Tori Neubauer Invitational on Oct. 16. Senior Danielle Freshwaters (Tacoma, Wash./Stadium), who was 51st at La Crosse, has had a solid senior season. Senior Estelle Timar-Wilcox (Falls Church, Va./George Mason), junior Jesse Colnes (Montpelier, Vt./U-32) and sophomores Maggie Froh (Milwaukee, Wis./Rufus King) and Sylvia Green (Madison, Wis./James Madison Memorial) have all run well this season and are poised for good results at the conference meet.

The men's team has been energized by a group of first years, led by Ben Crotteau (Lincoln, Neb./Lincoln), who has been the Scots' top runner in two of four meets this fall. Other first years making an impact include Brock Adams (Corona, Calif./Santiago), Nick Ihrke (Northbrook, Ill./Glenbrook North) and Reece McKee (Charlottesville, Va./Charlottesville). Senior Fred Kerr (Portland, Ore./Grant), who led Macalester at the BluGold Invitational on Oct. 1, has been running well late in the season, while sophomore Alexander Fendig (Chevy Chase, Md./Sandy Spring Friends School) was the first Macalester runner across the finish line at La Crosse on Oct. 16.

The men's race starts things off at 11:00 a.m., followed by the women's race at 12:00 p.m. in Northfield, Minn. Links to live results and other information can be found on the MIAC Cross Country Championships page.
