ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Macalester College women's swimming and diving team traveled up the street to participate on the University of St. Thomas Invite.
Senior diver
Francesca Gillis (River Forest, Ill./Trinity) placed in both the one- and three-meter diving events. Gillis scored a 227.60 on the three-meter board to take first place and posted a 217.17 on the one-meter board to take second place.
In the 400-yard medley relay, senior
Ariel Roghair (Iowa City, Iowa/West), first year
Grace Madigan (Middleton, Wis./Middleton), first year
Frances Redpath Helena, Mont./Helena), and first year
Paige Stevenson (Raleigh, N.C./St. Mary's) swam to a fourth-place finish with a time of 4:21.77. Macalester earned another fourth-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Thompson, Redpath, Roghair, and first year
Lauren Whyte (Winona, Minn./Winona) posted a time of 3:59.80.
Other individual accomplishments included three Scots finishing top three in the 100-yard breaststroke. Madigan led the way with a time of 1:14.49. Sophomore
Betsy Foy (Omaha, Neb./Harry A. Burke) placed second with a final time of 1:18.12. Senior
Ana Thompson (Minnetonka, Minn./Orono) finished right behind Foy with a time of 1:18.50, which was good enough for a third-place finish. Madigan won the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.98.
The Scots hit the road again to take on St. Olaf College Saturday, January 18 at 11:00 p.m.
