ST. PETER, Minn. – The Macalester College women's tennis team participated in the ITA Midwest Regional Friday and Saturday at Gustavus Adolphus. The Scots had three singles players and two doubles teams compete in the tournament.
In the singles competition, sophomore
Natali Sorajja (Rochester, Minn./Mayo) won her first match over Nia Pham of Carthage before falling in the second round. Sophomore
Laurel Hickey (Chatham, N.J./Chatham) also won a first-round match over Julia Boeve of Saint Mary's.
In doubles, Sorrajja and sophomore
Emma Baker (Bentonville, Ark./Bentonville) defeated Emma Sievers and Elizabeth Johnson, 8-2 in the first round before losing to Paige McLeod and Taylor McLeod of St. Thomas in the second round, 8-3.
Macalester also participated in the Gusties Fall Invite, with junior
Claire Buehler (Houston, Texas/Awty International School) winning twice and first year
Mia Friedman (Portland, Ore./Oregon Episcopal) winning her first-round match in singles. Senior
Rainah Ward (Northfield, Minn./Northfield) also won a match in the consolation bracket. In doubles, Friedman and Buelher won a first-round match.
