INVER GROVE HEIGHTS, Minn. – The Macalester College men's golf team competed in the Mac-Mary Dual Friday afternoon at Inverwood Golf Course in the first competition of the fall. The Scots lost the dual, 331-343.

Macalester was led by first year Alex Johanson (Walla Walla, Wash./Walla Walla), who tied for third overall with a score of 81. First year Karanja Karubiu (Nairobi, Kenya/United World College) was next in fifth with an 84, followed by sophomore Jim Smith (Shippensburg, Pa./Shippensburg) in eighth and first year Ethan Deutsch (Kyle, Texas/Lehman) in 10th. Junior Alex Young-Williams (Arlington, Va./Yorktown) and first year Lucas Luo (Los Angeles, Calif./Pilgrim School) rounded out the Scots' lineup.

Macalester will participate in the Augsburg Fall Invitational Sept. 1-2 at Majestic Oaks Golf Course in Ham Lake, Minn.
